TODAY AS SEEN BY AMERICANS FROM 1900

This is a fascinating article taken from THE LADIES HOME JOURNAL from the year 1900. It is a series of predictions about what OUR life will be like in the year 2000.

I find the part about children's free education and free medical care to be especially interesting as that was ALWAYS the American Dream before the Republicans clawed their way to power and said only the upper-class wealthy should be able to afford a college education and basic quality health care.

"Let them eat cake..."

It's also interesting to see the mention the end of the coal age as a power source within 150 years - this before the great oil boom set our economy and standard of living on a rocket ride to unstainable lofty heights.

How ironic it is that now it is oil which is reaching it's peak and we are predicting the end of the oil age within our lifetimes.

This is a very interesting article - one definitely worth reading through for it's insights into where America was heading BEFORE the assassination of Kennedy and the derailment of the American dream by the Corporate Military/Industrial Complex.
