Welcome to Dublin - Day One
Last week was reading week for my department. That is, we are given a whole week to read and catch up on homework.
Instead of doing that, me and Melissa went to Ireland!
We left Saturday evening to Bristol, where we flew out to Dublin. We got to our hostel at about 11:30, wrote home to let the folks know we got there safe, and then crashed in our racks. Traveling can be so exhausting!
Sunday morning came bright and chilly, so we decided to explore the area. We walked down the River Liffey and soon realized we were in the middle of everything you want to see in Dublin. We picked out spires over the building tops and set off on our adventure. Here are some pictures of what we discovered.

I believe this was the church at Dublin Castle.
Christ Church Cathedral
The tallest church spire in the city!

Our explorations ended at Christ Church Cathedral, where we celebrated evensong. We got there half an hour early to look around the exhibits in the church, and had the pleasure of listening to the choir practice. Beautiful.
But we had had another long day! We must have spent over seven hours walking around Dublin. So, we called it an early night and went to bed after dinner.
