CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS FLOUNDER AS IRAQ SITUATION IMPROVES
Democratic supporters are caring less and less about Iraq as an issue, reports Politico: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1107/7109.html
-
"Rep. Michael E. Capuano, an anti-war Democrat from Massachusetts, said only three of 64 callers on a town hall teleconference asked about Iraq, a reflection that the war may be losing power as a hot-button issue in his strongly Democratic district."
-
"In an interview with Politico, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) attributed the change to a recent reduction of violence and media coverage of the conflict, saying there is scant evidence that more fundamental problems with the Bush administration’s policy are improving."
-
How is that, Steny? Even Murtha says the surge is working! Yes, there are still issues to overcome, but things are looking up, at least.
-
"For now, voters appear more upbeat as the war’s progress than at any point this year. The nonpartisan Pew Research Center for the People and the Press released a report this week showing that nearly half of Americans believe the military operation is going well — an 18-point increase since February. You have to go back to the days before the last election, in 2006, to find Americans feeling this positively about the war effort."

-
'“Democrats made a strategic calculation last January that has proven to be dead wrong,” said Kevin Smith, a spokesman for Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio). “Their message of failure and retreat makes little sense in light of our troops’ remarkable progress, and the American people are responding to their successes.”'

Matt - there are much BIGGER issues going down right now than the petty bi-partisan bickering that is being used as smoke and mirrors to obfuscate the REAL crisis which is the selling out of the United States by global corporate elitists who don't give a damn about governments and democracy or freedoms and liberties and only want to unify the world under one fascist government so they can enslave the entire world's population under universal business law.
These global elitists want to turn the entire planet into captive consumers of THEIR corporations products and begin privatization of EVERY basic service and human right AT COST.
That way the RICHEST would have the MOST FREEDOMS and RIGHTS and the poorest would be caught in the treadmill of constant labor and early just barely enough to BUY the essential products and services they need to survive FROM the RICHEST ELITE.
I could care less anymore about what Republicans and Democrats are bickering about on the Senate Floor. That's obsolete 20th Century politics that became entirely meaningless after 9/11.
Now - in the 21st Century, we need to raise awareness on the rising threat of corporate global fascism and pull together to save our Nation from the REAL ENEMY of the UNITED STATES - the Global Banking Cartels and Global Government 'think-tank' groups like the Bilderbergers and the Tri-Lateral Commission.
We only have one shot at this and I believe we CANNOT affor to screw it up by getting distracted in the bi-partisan smoke and mirrors that they WANT us to get sidetracked on.

I'm sorry, but Doug's comment is waaaay too conspiracy-theorist for me.

Your instant, indocrinated denial is exactly why this is all happening right under your nose Matt.
I'm sure you will also state that the originator of this particular 'conspiracy theory' - President Dwight D. Eisenhower was way too wacky and far out crazy for you to even ALLOW YOURSELF to LOOK into his warnings and claims?
http://coursesa.matrix.msu.edu/~hst306/documents/indust.html
"Another factor in maintaining balance involves the element of time. As we peer into society's future, we -- you and I, and our government -- must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow."
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military/industrial complex.
(Which you may not know Matt, are the PRIVATE DEFENSE CONTRACTORS like HALLIBURTON & BECHTEL - Doug).
"The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."
"We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. WE SHOULD TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."
There you have it Matt. This is the origin of my so called "conspiracy theory". The President of the United States himself - the very General who is credited with the victory over the fascist regimes of Hitler, Mussolini and Japan - warning US - the generation of his grandchildren who the NEXT fascist enemies we will face are to be.
If you're still in denial - then go back to your petty bi-partisan bickering over trivialities like the Military/Industrial Complex (which includes Intelligence and Disinformation and other covert Pysch-Operations) wants you to.
Spin your wheels in the air uselessy going nowhere and accomplishing nothing while your Nation is sold out and enslaved to the new Military/Corporate Fascists.
I hope you enjoy the New World Order your stubborn denial and apathy helped forge.
