USD College Republicans

The attacks have begun

In a message to supporters, Nesselhuf campaign manager Bill Muller indicated that the political column I pen for the Volante is affiliated with the College Republicans. It is not.

I demand he correct this error as soon as possible. In an on-the-record conversation I had with him yesterday, he was extremely angry and seemed very reluctant to accommodate this demand.

The e-mail claims I personally attacked Mr. Nesselhuf. I'm not surprised. On this blog, Bill characterized discussion of Ben's legislative record as a "low blow."

Why can't we discuss Nesselhuf's legislative record? Or is Bill simply regurgitating tired press secretary lines?

At any rate, the Nesselhuf campaign needs to learn the difference between personal and legitimate attacks. We don't talk about Ben's family or his personal life. We discuss his record- his votes, his statements, and his employment.

If Bill and Ben had nothing to hide, they wouldn't have a problem with discussion of these things.

Comments:

Again, Mr. Hittle I implore you to start using quotes and facts in your blogs. If your going to demand that Mr. Muller correct a supposed error you must present hard facts that there is an error to the public.

On that thought, how did you, someone who is obviously not a supporter of Mr. Nesselhuf get a supporter email?

Now here is where i am also confused. You say that your column is not affiliated with the College Republicans in any way and is only your thoughts. If it is your thoughts... why are there multiple "we"s?

I hope you take these comments into consideration and make a timely respone to these questions.

A hilarious comment, indeed. The error was not "supposed."

First, I defy you to find the word "we" in reference to the College Republicans my column- or in my column in general. The word "we" does not appear at all.
Perhaps you should actually READ the column before making a comment.
My column is written on behalf of myself and no one else.

Second, when Bill Muller, Nesselhuf campaign manager, begins writing for the Volante Opinion Page next semester, will he represent the USD Democrats? Of course not. Why should it then be expected of me?

You're accusing me of this because of sheer partisan politics and, quite frankly, it's laughable.

I'm sorry; I should have clarified myself better. The "we"s I found were contained within your blog above.

As for the topic of the error... to myself and anyone else who did not receive the supporter e-mail, the error is a claim by yourself without any hard evidence to back it up. I am sorry I am such a skeptic Mr. Hittle, but there are few things I whole heartedly believe at face value. While I do not deny the existence of Mr. Muller's error, I refuse to take your word as truth without fact.

I'm sorry you view my tone as accusatory. I am merely searching for truth. Asking questions is how I arrive at the truth.

I am also sorry if my questions fluster you Mr. Hittle. I understand that you feel I am accusing you of certain things; I assure you I am not. I think we both can agree that in this discussion the snide comments can be kept to a minimum.

The "we" was the "royal we." The Nesselhuf campaign attempts to squelch any discussion of his legislative history, not just my discussion of it.

Mr. Hittle you again fail to answer my questions.

How did you... an obvious Nesselhuf oppenent get a hold of a Nesselhuf supporter e-mail?

Does it matter? It's certainly not secret. I have my sources.
