Well, it's Earth Day...

..And nothing has changed. Nor will it.

Days like Earth Day are worthless. So someone tied "hug me" signs to the trees on campus? What will THAT do for the Earth? NOTHING.

Events like Earth Day are just excuses for people to feel better about themselves, thinking they "did something" for the Earth. They didn't.

...like the 4th of July...why should we bother celebrating that? It doesn't make America stronger or better...it just makes people feel better because they took a day to celebrate their nation...God forbid we celebrate things...like America...or the Earth...or Christmas...err...(sarcasm noted)

You're missing the point.

We celebrate the 4th of July because something actually HAPPENED on that day. We are commemorating an event. It's the same with Christmas.

On Earth Day, conversely, we "celebrate" the Earth by doing absolutely nothing! Maybe we tie t-shirts around trees and talk about how much we hate Hyperion. What good does that do? None. Google changing the logo on its page to look like a forest does nothing for the environment.

Well...maybe we do commemorate an event...the day a hippy thought that working for a plastic factory sucked.

Actually Matt, you are wrong on the Christmas fact. Jesus was not born on December 25, so nothing did happen on that day, unlike July 4 which is the correct date. Jesus was actually born somewhere between March and May....so don't hate on Earth Day just because it is a day that hurts the cause of you and your pro-Hyperion cronies. It is important to take a day out of the year and realize that the environment is in the crapper and needs to be fixed.

Bill, expert hair splitter. (I kid, I kid)
It's like Presidents' Day. We don't celebrate it on the exact day it happened.

With Christmas, there's no way to know EXACTLY what day Jesus was born.

Next, I'm too young to have "cronies." We prefer to be referred to as a "gang."

Next, so you're saying its important to take ONE day to realize the environment is "in the crapper?"
First, that is hyper-alarmist. Second, if the environment is in such dire straits, why shouldn't Earth Day be EVERY day?!

You see, the whole idea of an Earth Day is illogical from your point of view. If you really wanted to save the Earth, you wouldn't have just ONE day a year! (Also, you wouldn't drive. You wouldn't use plastics. You wouldn't eat meat. Etc.)

Earth Day is a farce that doesn't get anything done. Sure, some trees are planted, but you liberals always talk about "AWARENESS." Well, who ISN'T aware of the environment? The mainstream media drills global warming alarmism into our brains DAILY!

Come on, Bill, you're better than that. Quit drinking the kool-aid and realize that there's no logic to Earth Day.
