March 27, 2008 by English

Professor Brian Bedard has been chosen as South Dakota Author of the Year for 2008 by the South Dakota Council of Teachers of English (SDCTE). SDCTE is a state-wide professional organization of English teachers in K-12 and higher education, and is affiliated with the National Council of Teachers of English. As this year’s honoree, Dr. Bedard has been asked to address next year’s SDCTE conference. Dr. Bedard’s recent book, Grieving on the Run (Snake Nation Press, 2007), prompted his selection.  Grieving on the Run, a collection of short stories, also won a Serena McDonald Kennedy Fiction Award and was nominated for a 2007 National Book Award.
