The University of South Dakota Blog Policy Guidelines


The University of South Dakota now offers blog service to students, faculty, or staff members, as long as he or she has an active USD Internet Account.

Blog authors are expected to adhere to all applicable USD policies as well as local, state and federal laws. This includes, but is not limited to, the following points:
  1. Contents must be consistent with the SDBOR and USD Acceptable Use Policy. This policy includes, but is not limited to, the following points:
    • All materials published on USD blogs must adhere to copyright law.
    • Selling of online advertising space is prohibited and blogs may not be used to promote any commercial, non-profit, or personal business activities.
    • All blogs must be written in a polite, civil and professional manner - use of offensive language, or sexually explicit material is strictly prohibited.
  2. Individual accounts on blogs.usd.edu are limited to one userid and are designed for personal use only. Each person with a USD username can set up a blog account, but accounts cannot be shared and one person cannot have multiple accounts.
  3. The following disclaimer will be placed and must remain on all pages created:
    "The views and opinions expressed in this page are strictly those of the page author. The contents of this page have not been reviewed or approved by The University of South Dakota."
  4. The University of South Dakota offices of Marketing Communications & University Relations and ITS, which are responsible for administering the blog service, reserves the right to delete content, at any time, at its sole discretion, that it deems in violation of university policy, or local, federal and state law.
