Cultural Events
Theatre: -Mice and Men:I enjoyed watching this play. It sparked my interest because I had read the book. I would consider it a cultural event because many people saw it. Also it is a cultural event because it envoked a response from many people. -Chicago:I enjoyed this musical very much. I would consider it a cultural event because there were many people there sharing the experience with each other. This makes the musical a cultural event because a cultural event is something that two or more people find entertaining. Music: -Percussion ensemble:This event was very entertaining. It was very diverse and intense. I believe that this event constitutes as a cultural event because in our culture music is very important. It connects people from different backgrounds and different lives into one category. -Participating in the band:I enjoying being a part of the band. I believe this to be a cultural event because there are all kinds of people that play in the band. A variety of backgrounds, ethnicity, and races coming together into one group. Art: -Art around the Fine Arts building:The art that is displayed all around in the Fine Arts building is very diverse. There are sculptures, paintings, drawings, and more. I believe this to be a cultural significant because art is a big part of our culture. It gives people a chance to step out of the norm or art and see different types and views on art. -Fine Arts main gallery:The art that is display in this gallery are mostly done by students. I think that this is a cultural event because people can then see art that is done in different styles by different people. Museums: -Music museum:The music museum contains many different instruments that date back many years. This is culturally significant because people can go there to see history of the music of the world. -W.H. Over museum:This museum contains many things from native american culture. This is important to our culture because people can learn things about the native american culture. Other: -Football game:This is a cultural event because people come to watch it. These people are of different backgrounds but coming together to form one similar group. -Basketball game:This is a cultural event because people come to watch it. These people are of different backgrounds but coming together to form one similar group. -Marching band:This is a cultural event because its a form of entertainment for many people. It also brings many different people together to enjoy one thing together. -pep band:This is a cultural event because it includes many people from many different backgrounds. It helps to show support for teams and to help get the crowd more involved in the game.

Group Project: -Definition of Art: something that is intended as art and envokes a response from at least one person -Most beautiful building on campus:Belbas -Best Restaurant in town:Chae's -Last great movie:Transformers -Strongest public art:statue of Doc Farber -Best show on t.v.:Family Guy -Best night to go out: Friday Group Project: -Organization:Vermillion Childrens Art Council -Mission Statement:To bring art and culture to students across southeast South Dakota. This will help to broaden their cultural experiences. Primary goal is to direct focus on minority and underpriviledged children but no one will be excluded. -Group:Beggly Mimes -How they fit:They bring a different aspect of cultural art to the students. -Where:The Arena Theatre in the Fine Arts building -Funding:Apply for a grant, sponsorship(clubs, different organizations, and local businesses)
