Campaign Buttons Through the Years

Now on display on the Library's third floor atrium is a selection of pins from the Allan H. Schell Collection of Campaign Buttons, Pins and Political Ephemera, 1884-2008.  This exhibit contains a campaign button from Grover Cleveland's presidential campaign (1885) and a campaign button or pin from the campaign of every president since then.  Buttons from the campaigns of South Dakota governors from 1939 to 1987 are also on display, as well as buttons from the current presidential campaign.   A special campaign button is included to commemorate George S. McGovern (1922-2012).  The exhibit, part of the collection donated by alumnus Allan H. Schell (B.A. 1954), will be on display in the Library until December 14, 2012.
