April 19- Virginia Tech
wow. An event born of violence and hate has once again rocked the nation. I find it strange to sit here in my small life an think of times when my life has been touched by the media. it has happened. It was awful, the media seems to only report the horrendous anymore. You make it on TV, it must have been awful. I find it strange that something that happened several states away has affected my life as it had. A fear I never knew now awakens on campus. On tuesday over half the students at my school were absent from morning classes. 33 lives shattered from one person's unthinking ways. From whatever they thought they could fix by ruining others. Why is always the question. i think that these people who take out their own internal anger were not loved. it is amazing what a listening ear and a kind word can do. I know that is hard to break the circle of social norms, but when we do, wow. I had someone who I befriended in gradeschool who was an ""outsider" a friendless person due to a skin disease she could do nothing about. She was my friend, and left my school for better treatment. She wrote me awhile ago, thanking me for the memories of good people, who seem so hard to find in this world. The tragedy at Virginia Tech should make us realize how fragile and beautiful our country really is. While for most this would inspire increased alarm and fear, I think it should bring us together as human beings. Giving us leave to love more fiercely than yesterday, because we know that tommorow is getting more and more fragile. Carpe Diem. Pray for the lost.
