Johnson endorses Obama

More campaign information for everyone. Sadly it is starting to consume
my life. I thought it would end after Iowa, but watching everyone slug
it out is only making the race more interesting.  I don't know how I
missed this but Johnson has endorsed Obama.

Johnson believes:

Johnson had said over a year ago that he was leaning toward the
Illinois senator in the 2008 presidential race, but has remained
uncommitted through the early primary season. As the Democratic field
has narrowed in the last week, Johnson decided to announce his support.

“He is bipartisan and insists on bridging the difference between parties,” Johnson told reporters. “That’s what I see in him.”

I find this peculiar because friends who attended a recent Johnson event in Vermillion said that he stated he would not be endorsing any candidate for President because he needed to work with all of them. I'm not superised that he picked Obama though.

As the article reports:

Many of Daschle’s former staff are working for Obama, including former
Daschle campaign manager Steve Hildebrand, who is Obama’s deputy
campaign manager.

Hildebrand also ran Johnson's campaign, and there are many other Johnson/Daschle staffers working for Obama.  This probably will not mean much for the Obama campaign. Johnson has a lot of weight in South Dakota (because he is awesome), but he is known for being a silent worker on the hill so he is not well known outside of the state.

Who knows maybe the race will come down to South Dakota (the last primary in the nation) and Obama's SD ties will take him to the White House. Ha ha ha.
