Obama is claiming Texas

01:34PM Mar 07, 2008 in category RCDEM by RCDEM

In case you have not seen it yet, Obama's frontpage displays every state he has carried. Texas makes the list despite only 41% of Texas caucus precincts reporting and losing the
Texas primaries. With the current caucus trends, he should end up with more delegates out of the state, but still, I think they are jumping the gun a little bit here.  In terms of momentum and who looked better this Tuesday, Senator Clinton won Texas in my mind even if he does end up with more delegates. If you would have asked me two weeks ago who was going to win Texas, I would have said Obama without question. He had all of the momentum and the lone star state really seemed to take with his outsider message.  The fact that he narrowly lost the primaries says a lot about Clinton's efforts in TX. I am surprised the Clinton campaign has not said anything about this yet.

Obama has every right to claim Texas. NPR called the caucus for him and if the margins in the caucus hold up, Obama will have won the "total" popular vote (primary + caucus). I think it was in poor taste that the media "called" Texas for Clinton without counting the caucus.
