The Blogger's Profile: Who is Tetris?

07:20PM Oct 03, 2007 in category Tetris by Tetris

Inspired by a blog post on A Radiant Cage Of Thunder,
I will answer some personal questions about myself so that our audience
can get to know me better.  Hopefully other bloggers will do the same
as it will help to personify the USD blogosphere and make things a bit
more interesting.

1. Name: Christopher Berry

2. Major/Degree/Course of Study: Political Science

3. Primary Interests (other than those in #2): MUSIC-- both playing music (guitar) and listening to it (classical, techno, classic rock, alternative rock).  I also have composed a few little guitar pieces.  POLITICS... well, that's kind of obvious given my political science background :D.  ART-- mostly drawing and especially drawing on inappropriate things like notes and tests.  PUPPIES.

4. Status (single/married/divorced):  I've been dating a girl for a month or two now.

5. Hobbies: Pretty much everything in #2 (playing and composing music for guitar) but add VIDEO GAMES (Halo 3, Super Smash Bros Melee) and BLOGGING (duh) to the mix.  Oh and DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS.

6. Academic Goals:  Make it to law school alive-- don't get killed by application process, honor's thesis, or senioritis.

7. Personal Goals: Go to a good law school, graduate towards the top of my class, make some $ and then work for a non profit like the ACLU or Humane Society or work for Uncle Sam as an elected official or public defender.

8. Who are some of your personal heroes? Thomas Jefferson, FDR, Jane Goodall, Francine Patterson, Diane Fossey

9. What are some of your primary talents? music, art

10. Are you 'religious' or 'spiritual'? What are you willing to share about this? I don't think it makes sense to believe in God just because that's how you were raised or that's how you "feel."  If one is religious it ought to be to make one a better person or because that religion already reflects one's values.  I would consider myself more aligned with Hinduism and Buddhism than Christianity although I can relate to a lot of the New Testament.  I actually went to Sunday School every week as a kid and they did a good job instilling "liberal Jesus" values on me (love your enemies-- that sort of stuff) and that's actually why I relate to Far East religions more!  I was totally turned off by the radical fundamentalists from the Christian Right that totally hijacked the religion and turned it from a religion of love into a religion of hate (hate Arabs, support War, give W a BJ and hate on some gays... that type of CRAP).

11. Why did you decide to create your blog here at USD? If I don't blog Ryan will yell at me.

12. Any pets? Names? Anecdotes or descriptions? Penny (lab/collie mix) and Lucy (lab/hound mix)-- both named after Beatles songs.  Penny is quiet and easy going but protective and Lucy has a hammer-like table that has shattered wine glasses but she is super cute... even though she is 60 pounds she will curl up on my lap still and has been seen licking little kittens and running away from puppies.

13. What kind of music do you like? Do you play an instrument or compose? Classic Rock (Pink Floyd, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, U2), Classical (Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Beethoven, and tons of others), Alternative (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, APC)

14. What kind of literature do you read? What are some of your favorite authors? Fantasy or philosophy.  Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Wheel of Time series, The Great Ape Project, Dominion

15. What disturbs you most? Your pet peeve? Farts-- especially when girls lie and say they fart when everyone knows that they cant.

16. What's the most unique and/or bizarre characteristic you possess? Creative

17. What television series do you follow? Family Guy, Simpsons, Futurama, Robot Chicken, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law

18. List at least (5) of your favorite movies: Pulp Fiction, The Illusionist, American Beauty, Eternal Shine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club

19. What would a person expect to find in or around your CD/Mp3 player? Zeppelin, NIN, Tool, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd

20. What is your personal outlook for the future of planet Earth? Globalization will lead to an a global community through economic interdependence and cultural unity.  Wars will be between society and underground "revolutionaries/terrorists."  The 3rd world will become more like modern society except maybe Africa that will struggle with the devastation of AIDS until a cure is found.  The planet's climate and ecosystem will become virtually destroyed because of global warming and development but eventually we will cherish what little we have left.  This may all take like 100 years.

Excellent profile! Wow... now I really have a grasp of who you are and where you're coming from! Thanks for sharing! I notice we have a lot in common. I should have included SIMPSONS and FUTURAMA in my favorite TV Series. Also FIGHT CLUB and AMERICAN BEAUTY for my movies. Great profile!
